Sam & Moon at Aberystwyth
Sam & Psyche at Aberystwyth

Gary & Cariad at Aberystwyth

Llandysul Show: September 8th
Moon was back to form in time for this, our last show of the season, winning the Ridden Pure-bred Arab class.

Psyche also did very well, coming 3rd out of 13 in a very strong Barren mare and gelding class.

Llanwnen & District: August 21st
We just took Psyche and she did us proud, winning the large Senior barren mare class, and then taking the overall Welsh Championship against the first prize winners from 15 other Welsh classes!

United Counties, Pembrokeshire, Lampeter & Monmouthshire:
Due to illness and a funeral in the family (Sam's Nan, Vera sadly passed away), we didn't attend these shows.

National Arab Championships: July 28 - 29th
Moon's haematoma was so swollen that the vet decided to open it and drain it, so we were unable to take her to the Nationals.

Royal Welsh: July 19th - 21st
Cariad was our Royal Welsh star, coming 6th out of 18 in the CHAPS qualifying Coloured youngstock class. She was the highest placed filly.

Moon's haematoma was really swollen and painful, but she still managed to get 6th place in the Ridden Arab class without any help from me (Sam) as I had broken a bone in my hand, and so was riding one-handed!

Because of my injury, I decided against riding Psyche in the Working M&M, as riding over jumps with one hand was a bit of a tall order!

Tivy-side: July 9th
Unfortunately we were unable to attend Tivy-side due to illness in the family.

Ffos-y-ffin: June 25th
Our main aim at this show was to see how Cariad would fare in a CHAPS qualifier class - and she WON, and then took the Reserve Championship! She also won the Welsh Part Bred class.

Moon didn't have such a good day, as her haematoma was really swollen, but she behaved really well, and put on a good show in spite of it.

Psyche came 2nd in the Local class.

Squirt jumped a double clear in the Minimus show jumping - her first attempt at jumping a course!

Aberystwyth & Ceredigion County Show: June 11th
Aber is our local county show, and we had a really successful day. Moon came 2nd in the in-hand Arab class, but won the ridden (not bad for her first show under saddle!) Luckily the swelling in her haematoma had gone right down, so the lump was barely noticable.

Cariad also did fantastically well, taking 2nd place in the Coloured youngstock class, and 3rd in both the PBA and PBW classes.

Psyche came a very creditable 4th in the large M&M class.

Swansea County Show: May 28th
Things are not going according to plan! We brought Psyche in from the field on the 27th only to find that she had lost a front shoe. To make matters worse, our farrier was away for the weekend. After a desperate phone call to the Swansea sectretary we got hold of the show's duty farrier and booked Psyche in with him for 8am on the morning of her class. To make sure we didn't miss the our appointment, we set off at 5.30am! Many thanks to Mark Davies and his team for doing such a fantastic job!

However, the course was HUGE and despite a valliant effort, Psyche was retired after the jumping phase with 2 knockdowns.

May 2005
Entry date: May 16th 2005

The season has started off badly – Moon was kicked in the filed and has developed a haematoma which required lancing last week. As a result, she will miss her first show, the Wales and West Arab show, so Cariad will be making the journey to Chepstow on her own. Hopefully Moon will heal up in time for her next scheduled outing, the Aberystwyth and Ceredigion County Show…… watch this space for regular updates.

Llanwnen: May 15th
Psyche and Cariad had their first outing of 2005 on the 15th May at the Cardigan Bay Riding Club show at Trellwyn Farm, Llanwnen. Cariad came 5th in the youngstock class, and was the highest placed part-bred. Psyche had one of only four clear rounds in the minimus show jumping, and another clear in the jump-off to take third place. She was also the only pony to jump a clear round in the Novice Working Hunter Pony.
