Our mares have been bred for temperament & performance. Length of rein, flat bone, action, hardyness & trainability make them ideal riding horses.

Black Bess and Glaw desend from Nance, a 14.2hh bay cob with a docked tail born in 1953. Arwen desends from Cefn Dusc (1965), a little grey section B who was covered by Brenin Dafydd to produce Aberaeron Coes-Wen Ddu, a tenacious black section C mare with four white socks and blaze who became a legendary show winner, and prolific brood mare. Coes-Wen unfortunately died in 2009 at 35!

Arwen is the 5th generation of Aberaeron breeding. Her Dam Aberaeron Dyma Hi (chestnut) was by Cathedine Telynor (black), out of Ceinwen (black) who desends from Aberaeron Coeswen Ddu. Cyttir Gruffydd can be seen being ridden side saddle on the Stallions Used page. Arwen has very straight floaty paces which makes her particularly suitable for riding. She is also blessed with a fantastic temperament, and has proved a great brood mare & riding horse. Having enjoyed a winter's hacking out & hunting with the West Wales Bloodhounds in 2009, she's now back running with the herd. Photo shows Arwen winning Reserve Supreme Champion at Llanerchaeron Summer Show, 2010. Her foal was also a winner - Aragon Aur.

Black Bess is the 5th generation of Aberaeron breeding. Her Dam Gwlith was Line bred to Brenin Dafydd & covered by Llyfni Hebog (by Nebo Black magic) to produce Bess. With such fantastic old Welsh breeding, its little wonder she is an outstanding specimen. With a big bouncy trot, she is a beautiful mover, her tail always up in the air. She has blessed us with some super champion foals, both cobs and part-breds, notably Cariad Kentucky, Twm Papoose, Dyami & Alys.

	Glaw is the 5th generation of Aberaeron breeding. Her Dam Gwlith was Line bred to Brenin Dafydd & covered by Cyttir Gruffydd (by Parc Welsh Flyer & out of Buckswood New Model by Derwen Llwynog). Cyttir Gruffydd can be seen being ridden side saddle on the Stallions Used page. She is a compact old fashioned cob with good bone, short back, plenty of feather & bone.
